Promotion Methods

The decisions that must be made when trying to find an internet business are mind-boggling. It was a long time before I realized that I must STOP just jumping into every business that came along promising to change my life. I finally came to the conclusion that I must be very selective in this process, and I must decide before-hand just what I was and was not willing to do.

• For instance, am I really interested in approaching friends and family members in order to make sales or gain recruits for my new business? NO
• What about calling leads and touting all the wonderful things about my business in an effort to have them join me? NO
• Or, driving around with a magnetic sign on my car advertising my business? NO
• How about driving all over town to post flyers or leave brochures in places where I do business? NO

I feel that those business methods are demeaning (just my opinion), and I am just not willing to go there (anymore!). Believe me, I have used every one of those methods trying to promote internet businesses, and finally said “No more!” There has to be a better way. I have decided to try methods such as writing articles, search engine submission, online classified ads, ezine advertising, pay per click advertising, and discussion forums. I am really new at these marketing methods, so I have no results to report. I do know, however, that these are things I am willing to try. I do not shudder with dread when I think about putting them into practice.

The bottom line is, if you are not willing to do what it takes to make your internet business successful, you will fail. You must decide exactly what you want to do, and then DO IT. If you are uncomfortable with the training provided by your company, you will do one of two things:

1. You will do it, and hate it
2. Or, you won’t do it at all

Decide what type of internet business best suits you, and you will avoid jumping from one business to another. Make a list of all the things you WILL do to promote your business, and another list of the things you WILL NOT do. Find out before joining any business what will be expected of you, and then compare your lists to the company’s business practices. For instance, an online candle company says that you can make money by selling their products to friends and family, by doing fundraisers, and sending people to the website. If you are okay with any of the three methods, this may be for you. If not, keep looking.
