1- It should be readable.
Posters are effective if your target clients can understand what you are saying in your message. In addition, the only way they can is if your words are readable. This means then that your readers should be able to distinguish not only your text and letters, but they should also be able to know where your message starts and where it ends.
A message that is readable means your ideas and concepts flow smoothly – in an organized manner. It should not have grammatical errors, misspelled words, hard-to-distinguish sentences, as well as a font that you can barely make out the letter it represents.
2- It should be organized
Same as being readable, your advertising tool should also be organized so that your target clients do not need to get an interpreter just so they can get to your message. Putting too many elements in your poster printing can most often than not, distract and confuse your readers from your message. You do not need to add too much glamour and glitter if it will only make it harder for your target readers to get your point. A well-organized and simple ad is still the best tool to get your ideas on print and have it understood by your target clients.
3- It should be legible.
Not only should your text be readable, but your copy should also be legible. Again, do not make it harder for your target clients to understand your message. They have been reading a lot of sales literature the whole day so another one from you can only irritate them especially if it would give them a migraine to do so. Make it easy for them to distinguish your words even from 6 feet away. The easier you make it for them to read your message, the faster they can act on your offer.
4- Make it simple and concise.
You do not need to write a novel. It will only take 11 seconds anyway for your target readers to glance and take in your message. So make it simple and short. Go for the punch line. The shorter it is, the faster it will be for your target readers to absorb your point in that very short time.
It is definitely not easy to create a poster. However, when done right, you can generate the leads you need to eventually make that profit.
