Some days back, I had friends over for a sort of reunion. And as at all reunions, we had the fun and frolic, the food and dance, and a long walk down memory lane.

Some days back, I had friends over for a sort of reunion. And as at all reunions, we had the fun and frolic, the food and dance, and a long walk down memory lane!!! All those old pictures, videos, the silly things we did and the whole list of things we wished we did!! It was all there. The evening was going perfectly, until one of my friends decided to start a food fight!! A food fight in my house of all the places. We were looking at all the pictures and listening to the music on my laptop. So obviously when there were drinks and other things being thrown around from person to person, a lot of it fell on my laptop.

At the time when it happened I didn't realize that my laptop would be in any kind of trouble. It was after the party was over that I realized that there was coffee and a whole lot of other drinks like apple juice, mango juice etc fallen on the laptop. As if this was not enough, somebody must have accidentally dropped it, because the screen was broken. But this broken screen was the least of my problems!! The liquid and other stuff which had fallen onto the laptop, had seeped into the hard drive. This made my data impossible to access. I had heard of data recovery, but had no clue about the details.

So I just did some research, to find out how to get the screen fixed. I also tried to check and see if I could solve the problem my laptop faced on my own. Here are some of the tips I found and the reasons why NOT to follow them!!

Blow dry the hard drive: doing this evaporates the liquid from the surface and inside the drive, but it leaves behind small particles which damage the drive.
Try turning on the laptop after drying it: This could cause further damage to the drive and your data.
