Objects can be classified on the basis of material used for manufacturing. Engineered materials that are made up of more than one material of desired chemical and physical property are called composite material.

Composite mainly comprises of materials that can be classified as matrix and reinforce. The matrix material supports reinforce whereas reinforce material forms the structure an impart strength. Composite materials generally have high strength to weight ratio, this quality helps for applications where high strength is required at less weight. The most common examples of composite material are fibreglass, carbon fiber, plywood etc. Fibreglass is made from fine glass fiber which acts as reinforcement material to polymers which act as matrix. Similarly GRP (Glass reinforced plastic) material is also used for manufacturing of doors.
