The lake side walk and better environment in Chandigarh have lured people from big cities, who have settled down here.

One fine morning Sunayana packed up her bags, dumped her essential luggage in the boot of her car and off she went. I remember she had phoned me up from her driving seat that morning. “I am leaving Delhi for Chandigarh,” she had announced. It was seven in the morning. I thought she had had plans of leaving Delhi.

I was taken aback when I heard she would be in the city of her choice five hours later. But so suddenly, I asked? Well, first of all I never liked Delhi, so I was looking for a job elsewhere and I got it in Chandigarh, the city I always admired for its well-planned infrastructure, upcoming real estate Chandigarh with quite healthy environment, the lake side walk being my most favourite pastime, Sunayana blurted out in a single breath while driving out of Delhi.

Sunayana lived in Delhi all her life. She had had parental home here and it is still there. She has all her friends and relatives still living in the city of her hatred.

You break into a conversation with her about what Delhi is like she would narrate how Delhi was fun some 20 years back.

With not so much of commotion and cacophony and those pleasant walks on the road sides of central Delhi. All that is a past now, she would moan.

Having struck up a job in Chandigarh Sunayana headed straight to the Chandigarh property dealers of the city. She wanted to have a fair idea on the real estate situation there.

The real estate agents over the few week gave her enough information for her to plan a flat for herself. She discussed loan offers with atleast seven banks; and with her kind of salary and the blue chip she was employed with housing loan was no big deal.
