This can also be called a forehead lift. They are both essentially the same thing though. It is a surgery involving moving the forehead skin around to present a smoother and more youthful face. There are a few different types of lifts you can get.

The first type is called a coronal brow lift.

This procedure is when a doctor makes an incision across the top of the head at the hairline and pulls the forehead skin up to overlap the incision line. The doctor may weaken some muscles in the skin in order to erase the horizontal wrinkles. This procedure lifts the entire brow area and forehead. This coronal procedure, however, can leave the hairline numb or tingling as the nerves can be affected.

Another procedure is called a hairline brow lift and this is used on people who have a receded hairline. In this surgery, there is an incision made at the hairline and at the top of the forehead. It is quite similar to the first mentioned surgery, and can also have dramatic results on horizontal wrinkles. However, due to the nature of it, sometimes there can be a visible scar.

Doctors are also able to do an endoscopic brow lift. This involves making several tiny incisions around the hairline and manually shifting the skin about with a small tool with a camera attached to the tip.

Some doctors may use small screws with this procedure to help keep the skin in its new spot while it heals. An advantage to the endoscopic version is that there is less of a chance of numbness or tingling. Risks involved are fairly minimal. They include problems with anesthesia, post operative infection, and swelling and bruising.

Many people will choose to have an eyelid surgery as well, as a brow lift alone cannot reduce crow's feet or puffiness around the eyes. Surgery isn't the best option for everyone, but people who decide to do it are usually incredibly pleased with the results.
