From the beginning of December, people indulge themselves in shopping for Christmas decorations and presents.

Christmas celebrations are incomplete without Christmas decorations and Christmas wreaths. Wreaths have been used as traditional Christmas decorations for centuries. Putting plants into the circular shape symbolizes the strength of life overcoming the harsh forces of winter. Earlier, Christmas wreaths and other decorations often consisted of natural materials. People used candles, bird’s nests, evergreens, pine cones, herbs and berries as Christmas decorations. Christmas wreaths look exquisite and can be displayed outdoor and indoor as well.

While there are many designs and styles of Christmas wreaths, they mainly fall into two categories, the decorative Christmas wreaths and the Advent wreath. Decorative Christmas wreaths are usually made of evergreen leaves, holly, or other materials which symbolize life through tough winters. Traditionally, the Advent wreath is made of four violet or rose candles in a circle of evergreens with a fifth candle in the middle.

A Christmas tree is an essential Christmas decoration, as decorating a Christmas tree is all about family bonding. You can choose a real tree or a faux tree and decorate it with bells, baubles and candy canes. The trees come in all sizes and you can pick one that suits the space you have available. Christmas icons are an essential part of Christmas decorations.
Popular Christmas icons include Santa Claus, snowflakes, snowmen, icicles, penguins, polar bears, etc. Along with decorative items like candles, bells, stars, stockings and angels, a variety of artificial lights and plants are used for decorating homes. Most popular plants used for Christmas decorations are holly, red amaryllis, poinsettias, mistletoe, and Christmas cactus.
