Be True To Yourself |

You should be true to yourself in network marketing. It is a mistake to try to be somebody you’re not. |

I considered doing fundraisers, setting up a booth at a craft fair, placing door hangers on my neighbors’ homes, and home parties. I used to cringe at the very thought of each and every one of these business ideas, but I thought that I must try them anyway.
Boy, was I wrong. If I had followed through with these things, I would have quit early on. I would have been so miserable that it just would not have been worth it. I would have thrown in the towel and decided that this candle business I was so excited about was just not for me after all.
Thank goodness I began to read articles from some of the seasoned networkers who suggested that I do things MY way. These articles showed me that I can keep my own personality, continue to be who I am with all my likes and dislikes, and still succeed in this business.
I do not have to do things that other networkers do. I do not have to do home parties, which by the way, I really hate. I do not have to set up a booth at a craft fair (thank goodness!), because I would not enjoy even one minute of it.
Don’t look at me with disdain because you enjoy these activities and I don’t. Instead, be grateful that we can all use our personal styles to build our businesses. We are not all clones that have to do everything that everybody else is doing.
It is great that these ideas are in place for us to use. But it is even greater that we have a choice. I was so discouraged in the beginning because I thought that I had chosen an industry that was going to be a real drag.
I was afraid that I would have to literally make myself use the methods that I had no desire to use. I was afraid that I would have to have home parties in my home or ask my friends and family to have parties in their homes. I have friends in network marketing, and they used to do this to me. They used to just drone on in order to convince me to host a party in my home so that they could make sales.
I actually began to avoid these friends after awhile. I had no interest in their products or in hosting one of their parties. I certainly did not want to become like them. I do not want people to avoid me because I am such a pest.
Remember to be true to yourself, do things your way, and let others do the same. Never try to convince your team partners that they are missing the boat if they do not try the methods that you use. Let them be true to themselves, too.
