Bathroom Lighting Advice |

The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the home to illuminate correctly. After all, we start and end each day in there. Bathroom lighting needs to be bright and fresh, giving good visibility for tasks like shaving or washing. There are many options for putting lighting in the bathroom. |

First of all, you should make the most of any natural light filtering into the room. It is advisable to remove any blinds and curtains. You can also buy a “do-it-yourself” window frosting kit which provides an economical way to making your bathroom private but bright.
Another option is to use mirrors to increase the size of your bathroom. They will also reflect the light source.
It is worth paying special attention to the bathroom mirror as a diffused glass light will give you a good source of light where it’s needed. New mirrors have lighting incorporated into themselves. Your mirror should also be lighted correctly to create light around the face area.
A good solution is a halogen downlight from the ceiling or fluorescent strip over the mirror.
For general illumination in the bathroom it’s worth using downlights (their halogen colour is really refreshing) or ceiling fitting.
You can also use dimmer switches that are just ideal if you need a lot of light in the morning (turn them on full) whereas in the evening, for a relaxing bath, just dim them to a glow.
Halogen lights provide the perfect setting when you are unwinding in a walk-in shower or roll top bath because they can be recessed into the ceiling and colour filters are available. You can change the mood with just the touch of a button.
Remember that safety regulations are strict for bathroom conditions so make sure the lights you’re installing are suitable. Make sure all the long switches are outside the bathroom or are fitted with a pull cord.
