As a dog owner myself, I realize the special connection we humans have with our canine counterparts and the bonds we build through play, training and socializing. There are certain issues that can arise, through no fault of the dog or our own, that can frazzle both new and old dog owners. One issue that we'll delve a little deeper into is barking. I'm sure at one point or another you have been witness to an overly vocal pooch, barking for the sake of barking. Perhaps the dog is lonely, wants to play, sees a stranger or other animal, but incessant vocalization can be a real nuisance to both the dog's owner and to anyone else within earshot. I'm sure you would want your dog to wake you if there was a burglar trying to break in or if there were a fire, but what are you to do if you dog just seems to want to bark for no reason at all? Enter Bark Collars.

In the past, standard bark collars of the Static Correction variety were the industry standard. These types of bark collars fit snuggly around the dog's neck and emitted a light electrical correction to get the dog to cease their barking. Sure, these types of bark collars worked, but at what cost? All dog trainers realize that the best way to effectively train their dog is with positive reinforcement, but these Static Correction Collars do the opposite, they train with pain and fear. There are alternatives to these frightening devices, alternatives that can cure your dog of his barking habit in a safe, humane and effective way.

Enter Spray Bark Collars. A Spray Bark Collar works in the same fashion as a Static Correction Collar, but instead of shocking your dog they employ a harmless spray to distract your dog to cease their bark. Many Spray Bark Collars employ a Citronella, a scent which is unfamiliar to dogs. Citronella Bark Collars work on four out of the five of your dog's senses: they see it, hear it, feel it and smell it. Working to distract and interrupt your dog's unwanted behavior, Spray Dog Collars and Citronella Dog Collars are safe and effective and will help train your dog to become less vocal without employing pain or fear.

Like all facets of dog training, employing a Spray Bark Collar or Citronella Bark Collar won't immediately cure your dog of all his barking urges. It's a training tool that takes time and works with your dog to gradually and humanely teach them to become less vocal. Sure, you'll see immediate results, but the Spray Collar must be worn for an extended amount of time or your dog will go back to their old vocal habits. In my experience Spray and Citronella Bark Collars have been a true godsend and have proven to be a truly effective and humane way to successfully train my pooches to become less vocal, without the pain or fear traditional bark collars bring.
