Bangalore is also known for its architectural splendor and several buildings and monuments reinstate the fact. The Vidhan Soudha or the State Legislature of Karnataka is finely built in Dravidian-style and set amidst landscaped gardens. The Vikasa Soudha, adjacent to it houses government buildings. The Bangalore Palace is yet another striking building, resembling the Windsor Castle of England. Tipu Sultan’s Palace in Bangalore is a two-storeyed ornate wooden structure, known for its exquisite arches and ceilings with attractive floral patterns.
The oldest church in Bangalore is the St. Mary’s Basilica, noted for its Gothic-style architecture and stained-glass windows. Another noted church in Bangalore is the Church of Infant Jesus, which is especially crowded on Thursdays. The ISKCON Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna is worth visiting when in Bangalore and is a rather modern structure. The Bull Temple is the highlight of Bangalore and is famed for the massive image of the Bull, which has been carved out from a single piece of stone.
One of India’s largest amusement parks, Wonder La Amusement Park is located in Bangalore. It has a number of water and ground rides, rain dance floor, fire crackers and laser lights at night and good eating joints and is particularly popular with families and children.
Bangalore offers a range of shopping options to the tourist and you’d mostly find big malls here. Forum Mall was the first of its kind in Bangalore and remains a favorite with the youth. The Garuda Mall is the largest Mall in South India and houses a number of branded stores and eating joints. Bombay Central is another popular Mall located in the heart of Bangalore.
