Custom Designed Armored Vehicles with Attention to Detail.
The technicians that work on these vehicles are very skilled mechanics. To completely strip a car or sport utility down to the frame and put all back together making it look like a brand new stock vehicle that just came from the factory on the outside is truly amazing. This is what good armor companies do to insure that the amount of protection is installed on the vehicle is correct while maintaining the fit and finish of the vehicle so that it retains the look regular vehicle. When it comes to choosing the protection level of armored cars, the first thing to consider is the threat level you might possible encounter while in transport.
American and European ballistics are the two of the standards that will determine the protection armored cars will receive. American ballistics are classified in Levels such as I – IIA – II – III-A - III -IV - IV+. European ballistics use B2 – B3 – B4 – B5 – B6 – B7.- B7+. When it comes to fending off armor piercing rounds such as 7.62 X 51 AP rounds fired from a AK-47 or SKS rifle you will definitely need Level IV or B7 protection to withstand these hits. The bullet resistant glass is roughly 68 to 70 mm thick which is close to 3 inches.
The other big difference is when the protection level moves up from a B6 to B7, the steel goes from about a quarter of an inch in thickness to one half of an inch in thickness. This difference sounds small but makes a huge difference in the weight of the vehicle, enough that heavy duty springs, shocks and brakes have to be installed to handle the extra weight of the steel and glass. At this level of protection, a person can feel very safe that you have one of the highest levels of security made in a armored cars.
Protecting a vehicle from armor piercing rounds is very important for a high level officials who want absolute security from bullets or grenades but what about contaminants such as mustard gas and other deadly airborne agents that if inhaled can be very deadly. They have positive pressure systems that can be installed for this protection keeping the pressure higher inside the car then outside always pushing air out of any place where it could possible get in the car. This is just another level of security you will find in a lot of armored cars. You can have just about anything you want in these armored cars as you have most likely seen in movies like 007. All it takes is money, a lot of it.
