"The Abandoned Horse" is an idiom used to describe horses which are no longer cared by its owners. Some of the horse owners are either dispassionate or they might not be in a position to care for their horses due to the financial situation. Nowadays the price of hay and grains are rising rapidly, so many horse owners are finding it very difficult to take care of them with proper food and care.

Accordingly, what happens to all these abandoned horses? All over USA many horse rescue agencies are working very hard in saving as many horses they can. They are struggling too hard in raising revenues to provide proper care for rescued horses. The economical situation and hiking prices of hay and grains are prompting many horse rescue agencies to close their doors. So if the rescue agencies stop working due to economic crisis, the amount of horses in need raises and it will be a great disaster for the equine society. Latest survey states that basic care for one horse is around $1,500 to $2,000 per annum.

Last year over 100,000 horses from the United States were slaughtered and shipped overseas for human consumption. New statistics say that 93% of the 100,000 horses were considered healthy, but were still slaughtered.

As a horse owner or a horse lover what can you do to solve this crisis? If you are a horse owner, dedicate some time for your horse and provide them all they need. And when you think that you are not in a position to offer proper care for your horse, find out a good rescue agency who care for horses, and admit them. It would be great to educate people about this rising equine crisis.

Even though you don't own a horse, dedicate your time in rescuing some of the horses which are in need around you. This would be one of the greatest thing you can do to offer a second life for those abandoned animals. If you are not in a position to help physically, then you can help rescues economically by joining some well known horse rescue associations.

So by joining our hands together, let's take a pledge to save these neglected horses and build an equine friendly society.
