You've heard about the great appearance-enhancing benefits of the facial injectables for middle-aged to senior beauty seekers. If it works so well to smooth out wrinkles for those age groups, could it work as a preventative measure for 20-and 30-somethings? Although a few people out there will tell you that dermal fillers can help you prevent wrinkles, the truth is that it doesn't work that way.

A form of the botulinum toxin is very powerful to temporarily paralyze the facial muscles that cause deep lines and wrinkles. It does not completely erase them, but can certainly soften these age-telling lines. It is a great way to add volume and fullness to sagging and sunken skin in older faces, but firmness and volume are not usually needed in the faces of 20-to 30-year olds.

Their skin still produces collagen well and keeps facial features plump and firm. This type of treatment should be saved until it is truly needed. Fortunately there are some ways that the younger crowd can start to prevent lines on the face and other facial concerns.

At the top of the list is the use of a strong sunscreen. Long, unprotected exposure to UV rays can add age to your face quicker than almost anything. The fairer you are, the higher the SPF you should choose, but make sure you apply it every day as part of your daily routine.

In the same vein, it is a good idea to wear UV protective sunglasses whenever you are outside to keep you from squinting, causing the speedier formation of crow's feet wrinkles. Another good practice is to drink plenty of water each day to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. This means between 6 and 8 glasses each day.

Good hygiene can also keep your face looking young as the years pass. Be sure to thoroughly cleanse your skin morning and night, using exfoliant as needed. Keeping it clean will help to get rid of acne-causing bacteria, avoiding potential acne scars and enlarged pores.

And don't forget about sleep! Your face needs enough time each night to rest and repair itself from the exposure of the day. The closer to eight hours of sleep the better! Supplementing your daily diet with certain vitamins can be helpful in preventing wrinkles as well.

Specifically, vitamins A, C, and E have been proven to improve the help of facial skin. Anti-aging creams with these vitamins may also aid the process as well. So while dermal fillers may not be the way to stop the clock, there are several ways to help you look healthy and younger.
