There are four main steps when it comes to having hair extensions applied, so far I have covered the first step, which is research into hair extensions and choosing the best salon and stylist to have them applied. The next step when it comes to hair extensions is the actually application process. Having your hair extensions applied is one of the most important factors in the whole process. There are many different ways in which you can have your hair extensions applied so you need to ensure that you choose the method which is best for you.
Once you have had your hair extensions applied the third step of the process comes into play, which is the maintenance of your hair extensions. Looking after your hair extensions is vital. The salon in which you have your extensions applied should offer you a maintenance service, which should always be booked within a four to five week gap after your extensions have been applied. This will mean that your stylist can check that everything is ok and that you extensions are still fully intact. This will ensure that your hair extensions will be keep looking immaculate for the three to four months that you will be wearing them for. It will also allow your stylist to adjust the extensions in anyway that is needed. Your stylist may also provide you with a maintenance sheet, which is provided for reference and after care products, which do not have to be expensive; however you should avoid shampoos and conditioners that are full of amino acids.
The forth and final step is having the extensions removed. This must be done by a professional and preferably by the same stylist that applied them.
The extensions that you can have applied are available in just about any colour, texture or length. They also come in a range of different materials. Some extensions may be made from 100% real hair and others will be made from 100% synthetic hair or even a mixture of human and synthetic hair.
There are always going to be a list of advantages and disadvantages to having hair extensions applied so the important thing to remember is that you talk to your stylist to discuss the best method of application and removal and whether your hair is in a suitable condition to have the extensions applied.
