Therefore it is the perfect host city for the Council of the Siam Society to hold its prestigious classical concert series titled “Music at the Siam Society”. The concert series which takes place from the 15th of May 2009 to the 24th of February 2010 has been specially organized by the Siam Society to inculcate its members and the public into the pleasures of performing arts.
The expansive society auditorium is the setting for the series of events which includes performances of jazz, pop, Thai and western classical fare by leading musicians of Thai origin. Soloists, choirs and jazz ensembles as well as chamber groups are included in the line-up, for this first season of ten concerts that has been organized in collaboration with the Music College of Mahidol University. The impressive concert itinerary includes a classical performance by Siam saxophone, Thai classical music from Pong Lang and Pi Pat and the participation of other seasoned artists such as the Suwannaphum Woodwind Quintet, Soju Clarinet Ensemble, pop group Morning Sunset and a string quartet to name a few.
An evening with “Music At The Siam Society” are an ideal way to relax and unwind to the soothing sounds of the best that Bangkok has on offer, as the show begins at 7pm each evening and concludes by 9pm. The concert season also affords visitors a rare look in to Bangkok’s classical music scene and its talented retinue of young and seasoned performers.
