Air India was founded by Ratan Tata in 1932 which was named as Tata Airlines. On 1946, Tata Airlines was converted into a public Company, under the name of Air India. On 1948, it started its international operations. Its international services, started with a weekly flight from Mumbai to London. |

Its main focus is on London city. Its subsidiaries include Air-India Express and Air India Cargo. Company Slogan is “Your place in the sky”. Its headquarters is in Mumbai, India.
Some of the important destinations covered by Air India are Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Frankfurt, London, Birmingham, Abu Dhabi, Dam man, Doham Dubai, etc. It has nearly 38 aircrafts. Some of them include Boeing 747-400, Boeing 777-200 and Boeing 777-200LR etc.
Airport Lounge service:
Air India provides Airport Lounge service named as Maharaja Lounge. This lounge facility is offered to First and Business class passengers. There are five lounges in which three are located in India and two internationally. In India lounge facilities are available in Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai. It has its lounges in London and New York also where first and business class passengers can enjoy drinks, snacks before boarding their flight.
Some of the facilities that Air India provides to its business class passengers are as follows:
Business class passengers can enjoy spacious cabins and plush seats. On 747 aircraft every passenger can avail Aisle and window seats.
In flight Meals:
You can enjoy your meals with a choice of three menus from Grilled Lamb chops, Parmesan cheese Omlette and Chicken Malai kebab. With a vintage wine or smooth Champagne.
On-board Entertainment:
Air India has Audio Video on demand system on all 747-400 and 777 aircrafts.
Airbus A310-300 flies to Damman, Hong Kong, Nairobi, Osaka and Shanghai. Both Business and Economy class seats are standard and personal television are not provided in these classes.
Boeing 747-400 flies to Jeddah, Riyadh and Tokyo. Business class has premium seats with added recline and cushioning. It has widescreen personal television with Audio video on demand in call classes and improved seats.
Boeing 777s flies to median haul destinations such as Dubai, Frankfurt, London and Tokyo. Long haul destinations include Chicago, New York City, Newark and Toronto. Several variants of Boeing 777 are Boeing 777-200, 777-200ER, 777-200LR and 777-300ER. In these flights business class seats have 15 inch widescreen PTVs with laptop power and USB ports.
