||||

Children with ADHD need special help when dealing with their diet. Unknowingly, many parents just give their children whatever they are having. Unfortunately the ingredients in most prepared foods today do a lot of harm to our children's behavior. |

After a while you can prepare a good food menu for your child. Unfortunately, a lot of parents with ADHD children are not aware that the food ADHD children eat plays a key role in their behavior and that there are a huge number of resources such as diet plans to better help ADHD children.
Many may question "Is there a list of foods good for kids with ADHD?" Hence, the following is a checklist of dietary things to do and not to do when preparing diet for children with ADHD :
DON’TS:
1. No foods which contain additives and chemical preservatives.
2. Do not give them diary products, so cheese, milk, butter and the like must not be eaten.
3. Don't use sugary drinks or carbonated beverages like soda.
4. Fruit juices should be discouraged as well, these are saturated in sugars.
5. Don't consume junk food which has all the side effects of processed foods. They are not good for any of us really, but even more so for the child diagnosed with ADHD
6. Cut down on the amount of sugar consumed by the child, and make sure to carefully monitor how much they do have. Why not try a healthy snack such as a banana or rasins as opposed to a chocolate bar?
7. Purchase only fresh meat, and don't use processed meat as these usually are loaded with chemical preservatives and additives.
8. Do not give them any fried products like chips etc.
9. Make sure your child doesn’t snack in between meal times, otherwise he will spoil his appetite.
10. Don’t try and coerce or bully your child into eating more healthily, try and talk with them. If you take a authoritative approach, the child will in all probability rebel and become even more belligerent.
DO’S:
1. Try and use organic products. They tend to be without the chemicals and pesticides used in ordinary groceries and the high amount of chemicals present in these products are not helpful for anyone!
2. Make sure that plenty of water is drank every day.
3. Make sure that they eat mostly fresh fruit and vegetables.
4. Make available a wide selection of foods, this option to choose what to eat will encourage your child to enhance his diet and get to discover new things.
5. Use supplements to give your child a boost, but be sure to discuss this with your doctor before engaging in this practice.
6. Nourish your child with flax seed or primrose oil. Also think about high-level sources of Omega oils; borage oils and some fish oils are excellent sources.
Add about a spoonful a day into foods as you prepare them, or add to salad dressings, etc.
7. Don't forget to inspirit your ADHD child for their commitment to giving up the things they like most.
And lastly, consider changing your diet as well. We as parents should always set a positive example and it is far easier to get your child to do something if you're doing it as well. They do always look up to us (whether we ant them to at the time or not) and we can alleviate a huge part of their objections if we do it as well.
Who knows; it may make *you* feel better as well.
