A Little Book Enriched My Life

Who knew that a little book, that cost me $1, would change my way of thinking!

I love yard sales.

Every summer I look forward to going to a juicy yard sale. I remember my friend once telling me, "one man's trash is another man's treasure," and I always find it.

One summer day I went to a yard sale. As I leisurely strolled through the owner's backyard, I came across a box full of books. I must have spent an hour, sitting on the grass, looking through tons of books.

And then I found it!

The book was entitled, "Think and Grow Rich," a classic by Napoleon Hill. "How much do you want for this book," I asked. "You can have it for $1." "What a buy," I thought, as I put it into my bag.

Once I got home, I began leafing through the well worn pages reading on how anyone's life can be enriched.

"It was easy," I thought. All you have to do is change what is going on in your mind. Lately, I have been thinking about starting something new to earn extra money.

I often experienced the feeling that I was in a performance slump, and was not getting anywhere in my career. I was like everyone else, giving my 8 hours to my job, living from paycheck to paycheck, and waiting a year just to take a vacation.

Everyone offers the unwelcome advice, "to overcome career boredom is to make a change." Change is often difficult for me, but I began to think about it.

As I read through my little book again, I kept re-reading the section on how others accomplished success, by changing their frame of mind and thinking. The formula was really very simple.

As my self-awareness heightened, I was beginning to think, "I have the same ability," "If someone else can achieve success, I can achieve it to."

The chapters on discovering money-making secrets, men who became rich and successful, wasn't a difficult concept to grasp. So I thought about this some more.

Without realizing it, my thinking took a new direction.

I began to formulate a plan.

I must have surfed for hours, looking for new opportunities. And like finding my little book, I found it.

I called my best friend and shared what I have discovered. She clicked on the site and as we chatted, she became very excited. "Hey, this is our answer to our suck job," she said. I liked her way of thinking already.

I went to work the next day with a smile on my face. My new way of thinking sparked a new motivation and desire, I have not felt in months. I felt warm and fuzzy, with my new little secret.

Someone else's trash truly became my little treasure for just $1.

I can't wait to see how it will change my life!
