Sprucing-up your teen’s room with lighting options like floor lamps and paper lanterns can really make it stand out.

Floor Lamps
A floor lamp is a dynamic lighting fixture that comes in various styles, shapes, and shades. Depending on the size of your teen’s room, the décor, and the amount of lighting required, you can choose the right floor lamp. Floor lamps can be made of metal, wood, ceramic or plastic. While metal or plastic are sturdier and lasts longer, there are beautiful designs found in lamps made of wood or ceramic.

Floor lamps can also amplify the theme in your teen’s room. A beach theme will be complemented by a floor lamp in cheerful colors, decorated with capiz shells or seashells. A floor lamp of metal that has a birdcage-like shade has a vintage look, while a cast-iron floor lamp with scallop-shaped shade complements modern décor. Place a floor lamp behind a sofa or by a cozy chair so that your teen can enjoy reading in its focused light.

Paper Lanterns
Paper lanterns are light, festive and bring a summery look to your teen’s room. You can choose to either shop for a paper lantern or assemble one at home. There is a wide variety of designs, colors, and shapes available in paper lanterns. You can hang a large paper lantern in your teen’s room or choose to get a few lanterns in different sizes and colors and hang them together to add volume and iridescence to your teen’s room.

It can be a lot of fun to make your own paper lanterns. Involve your teen in the process so that his or her taste is better visible in the lantern. You can use handcrafted paper or recycled paper to give the lantern a unique texture. Assemble some simple supplies like a pair of scissors, a glue stick, colored rice paper and cardboard. With a pattern in mind, you can start making a lantern with your teen!

Placing paper lanterns and floor lamps in your teen’s room will not only bring in more light but also make the room more colorful and bright.
