These procedures can be performed by either a plastic surgeon or dermatologist and are considered to be noninvasive.

A traditional facelift addresses the lower seventy-five percent of a patient's face. It will lift up sagging jowls, cheeks and redefine a hidden jaw line. The procedure entails making incisions in the hair line or scalp area to remove excess skin and to lift up and suture all into a tighter position. This is a surgical procedure which often requires an overnight hospital stay and general anesthesia. There will be swelling, bruising, pain but all will subside within three to six weeks.

If the main areas of sagging appear in the forehead and eyebrow area, the procedure of brow lift will be what is required. If the neck is the dominant complaint region, a neck lift may be the preferred treatment.

A technique called the Threadlift method may be an option for those looking for a more minimalist procedure. A suture or thread is inserted or stitched in sagging areas in order to lift them up into a higher and tauter position.

At times liposuction may be necessary. Liposuction is the removal of excess fatty deposits by use of a cannula, which is a slender tube inserted into the fat before being suctioned away with a vacuum device. Liposuction may rejuvenate the facial appearance alone or in conjunction with another surgical method.

Chemical peels or laser treatments may be the appropriate choice to firm up and rejuvenate a person's appearance. Chemical peels are methods which entail acid being brushed on the aging upper layer of skin, which peels away to allow a new undamaged layer to grow back, which tends to be tauter.

Laser treatments operate in a similar manner except that the irritant which destroys the upper layer is delivered via intense beams of light. Both of these methods also stimulate the production of collagen, which is the substance responsible for the body's elasticity.
