The all important question most internet marketers have is how to get visitors to come back to their websites! It's not always an easy task but following a few tips on a continual basis can really make a big difference.

Successful websites don’t necessarily need to have repeat visitors, but for long term success and financial gain, it’s the only way to go. This means that while it’s great to have a list building website, or an affiliate website, it’s just as important to have a website that offers content or products visitors will want to come back for.

There are 2 basic ways to accomplish the goal of repeat visitors:

The first is the easiest, as it’s simply an informational website. Fill the website with valuable, relevant information about a hot niche topic that will do well with internet marketing. Offer resources, articles, reports and other useful content.

The second is to maintain an ecommerce website. This involves setting up a merchant account (which can be pretty easy nowadays with paypal and clickbank), choosing and attaining ownership of products to sell, and setting up a website store.

No matter which avenue you choose, they both are great ways to generate repeat visitors. These kinds of websites can also be incorporated to promote your mailing list and other personal affiliate programs you may be a part of.

So let’s say you’ve got either an informational or product based website up and running. Here are some tips to get your visitors to come back time and time again:

1. Make your visitors feel special. Either add a script to your website that personalizes the site with their name, or create your homepage content to feel welcoming and personal to each and every reader. This can be done by using lines such as “I bet you feel this way too…” “Good to see you made it!” or “I appreciate your visit!”

2. It is very important to make sure your website doesn’t have a sales pitch feel when you’re looking for them to come back. This even applies to ecommerce websites. Of course it’s obvious when you’re selling something, but that’s all the more reason not to try and push a sale.

3. Fresh content is supreme! This doesn’t mean you have to publish strictly exclusive content, as PLR articles are especially great for informational websites (especially if they’re re-written a little). What it does mean is that you need to make sure you update your website content on a regular basis. Add content at least every couple of weeks, or your readers won’t have anything to come back for.

4. If you plan or do run an ecommerce site, consider choosing to promote or sell products that need to be replaced. Products such as herbal tea, vitamins, book clubs, nail polish and fertilizer are good sellers online. And once someone buys from you, chances are they’ll come back to replenish as long as you follow up with them after their initial purchase.

5. Ask your visitors to refer your website to their friends and family! You can do this in a number of ways such as displaying a referral button, asking for referrals after a purchase or starting a referral program.

These tips should create a strong base for your business, and there are plenty of options that you can implement along the way. Continuously educating yourself about what’s new and popular on the Internet is probably the best thing you can do to make sure you’re using the latest techniques to get repeat business.
